This is for you Neerja Ma'm.
You taught me Hindi in class 8th in Rukmani Devi Jaipuria PublicSchool. You were quite a strict teacher and many students were actually afraid of you, including me. On my first day in class eight's hindi period, as an introductory exercise, you asked every one of us the meaning of our names.Unnoticed by you, I prayed for the bell to ring and thankfully for that day the bell did ring and i was spared. I didn't know the meaning of my name and was afraid to tell you that even my parents were unaware of what my name meant. This was my first tryst with you.
In subsequent classes I grew more confident and was more expressive in the class, still i was awestruck by you. You told us that you wrote poetry, you could explain simple text with many twists and similar response you expected from us. I don't know, why you thought i was worthy enough of your attention as I was not bold and i could not weave magic with words like you, but was i an attentive student and an avid reader for my age. You openly favoured me and i enjoyed every moment of short glory in your class. Those were the years of my teenage, full of turmoil, parents vs friends; daydreams vs future dreams. The time, which even today if i look back upon, i am upset. It was as if nothing went my way and i was living for someone else (read parents), i was always conscious of my decisions and actions. You showed confidence in me and also expressed it openly, my self confidence boosted and Hindi became my favourite subject(though i didn't do very well in Hindi in 10th board but more on that later).
So this was for you Neerja Ma'm. I want to say thank you for believing in me when even I did not believe in myself.
