Resume is to sell yourself to the world

The other day my husband told me in all so knowingly tone that one of his acquaintance, who is highly qualified and widely respected for his knowledge, makes it a habit to upgrade his resume on the first day of every year. The practice, which he claims to be followed by every person in his home, is to rate yourself and to know what value addition you made to your life in past one year. Yes, I was impressed, a retired professional and still so ardent about learning new things and constantly upgrading himself.

However, a sly thought crossed my mind. Was this self evaluation practice was for every member of his family? Or he meant only those who worked with certain organizations to make a living?  Did his wife too worked outside home (certainly toiling at home too)? If not, did she also write her resume on first of every year If yes, did she include all the missed opportunities in her career because her preference was family?

Why do i have this nasty habit of over analyzing everything? I should try to be appreciative of any new idea which has been tested and followed by others. I too want to write my resume but to quicken the process i shall skip the regular format and dwell upon the achievements/ value additions in past one year.

Jan 2012: thinking hard... oh yes i spent the first day of the year cleaning up the mess from the terrace party and after that visited my parents house with husband and daughter. Wasn't this an achievement of sorts? Getting hubby to visit my parents.

Feb 2012: Celebrated our anniversary with friends and family(including my mom in law and daughter and certainly two of us). Came back home, next day was office for husband and school for daughter.

March 2012: Thinking again... still thinking... can't think of anything. yes, helped daughter through her FAs and SAs. What are FAs and SAs? I thought, everyone knew it. These stand for formative assessment and summative assessment under new CCE guidelines by CBSE. (the person who triggered all this resume thing knows about this!). If one can mention this on resume, I also spent quantity time (it was quality time or not, could be debated) with my daughter and mom in law and I do this daily.
