Now after Prez. Kalam its SRKs turn. Are Indians overreacting?
If yes, its high time they should react. What Srk has to say about this whole drama is just that The US needs to be more warm and quick with its procedures. They just cannot pick anyone called "Khan" and detain him, this certainly is religious profiling in the name of security checks.
What if Dr. Kalam didn't react or mr. Bachchan had been detained for security checks many times, the idea is not to create al ist of "who is the most modest of them all". Its just that since SRK could pull the strings of Indian Administration , he did that. So would many other commoners do if they could help it. Perhaps the list of humble VIPs who didn't utter a word, or went to press like simpering puppies is what makes them VIPs. At least Sharukh acted real and complained about what he didn't feel was right.
Now, what i am writing is not a well researched content neither I am citing examples of 'who said what', its just an out burst of my thoughts about the present politico-socio scenario.
This we have to admit that those in power tend to reign others lives. Just because America is a strong economy, they cannot monopolize the world with their rules. Its not that Indians are too used of VIP treatment, its that Americans can not look beyond America.
Profiling, religious, provincial, educational and many other categories can be added to it, is rampant in every walk of life. But when it come to the question of social equality personal believes have to take a back seat. Just because people with brown skin and Khan name come from a third world country ignorant limey Americans cannot follow their whims.
I remember, on my first visit to The US of A. , I met an 'educated' girl who thought Indians have no idea about gadgets which can wash clothes just because to me they were 'washing machines' and to them 'washers'.
Now comes the news that Shahrukh was detained because of his suspicious hosts/ event managers in USA. What ever the reason, his detention has reopened the can of worms which at least now, should startle Indian diplomats as well as common people to stand up, notice and decide about as to how rest of the world sees them and treats them.
